Educational Opportunities and Research Affiliations

Through its affiliation with the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Alliance of the Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas Health Science Center, Memorial Hermann|TIRR houses one of the largest Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) residency training program in the country with 40 residents in the three-year program. This alliance, formed in 1996, is a unique and successful arrangement between the PM&R departments of two of the most prestigious medical schools in the country.

Accredited specialty fellowships are offered at Memorial Hermann|TIRR in neuropsychology, spinal cord injury medicine and brain injury medicine. Full-time research fellowships are also offered in a variety of rehabilitation areas.

As one of the leading rehabilitation organizations in the United States, with two top medical school affiliations, Memorial Hermann|TIRR attracts nationally and internationally recognized physicians in the field of PM&R. Our attending medical staff is primarily comprised of board certified physiatrists who treat a wide range of diagnoses from multiple sclerosis to traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury.

The majority of our attending physicians have teaching affiliations with Baylor College of Medicine and/or The University of Texas Medical School at Houston (UT Medical School) and they are instrumental in training future physiatrists. In addition to its attending physicians, Memorial Hermann|TIRR has an equally impressive roster of physicians with consulting relationships who bring expertise in a number of specialized areas of medicine related to rehabilitation.
