Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese system of healing in which specific
symptoms are relieved through the insertion of small needles into points
on the body. These points correspond with functions of the internal
organs or areas of the body. Acupuncture is based on theories of energy
flow. Medical problems can arise when this flow is interrupted. Acupuncture
seeks to restore the natural flow of energy.
Thin, pre-sterilized, disposable acupuncture needles are used and
cause little or no pain. While the needle is in place, the patient
may feel a tingling sensation at the point of stimulation. Every person
responds differently, and the number of treatments a patient needs
may vary.
