Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital
Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center achieved renown as a center of excellence in nutrition care in the late 1970s when it introduced one of the first nutrition support teams in the country. Members of our clinical dietetics staff are considered experts in pediatric nutrition.
The hospital was one of the first to employ an executive chef to oversee all food production. Our current chef is a leader in Texas in heart-healthy institutional food preparation.
Our Enteral Nutrition Center staff prepares and delivers tube feedings and compounded infant formulas to patient units. Staff members also fortify expressed breast milk when ordered by physicians and/or dietitians for delivery to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Five registered and licensed dietitians, including a PhD, a lactation specialist and a certified pediatric dietitian, provide service and education to our young patients and their parents. Inpatient services include screening for nutrition risk, complete nutritional assessment, patient education, monitoring of intake and recommendations for specialized diets.
We offer patients a seven-day selective menu, which we supplement with an extensive write-in request list as required to meet special religious or nutritional needs. For more information, please call 713-704-6700.
