Joint Replacement Program
Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center offers one of the most advanced joint replacement programs in the region performing more than 1,000 surgeries per year. Technology is advancing - computer assisted surgery, surgical navigation, robotics - and Memorial Hermann is on the forefront of using these procedures. We participate in early investigational studies for new technologies and provide surgeon training for anterior approach hip replacement.
Our Joint Replacement Program provides the latest minimally invasive techniques for knee, hip and shoulder replacement. Now we offer MAKOplasty®, a new robotic technology used for total hip and partial knee replacements. Another leading-edge surgery performed at Memorial City is the anterior approach to hip replacement. The surgery is performed from the front, or anterior side of the leg, and the joint is accessed by going around muscle rather than cutting through it. Benefits are less trauma to surrounding muscle structure that supports the joint, fewer post-surgical precautions, fewer activity restrictions, shorter hospital stay, and quicker recovery.
