General Information

The Amputation Prevention Center ® and Wound Care  at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center is dedicated to optimizing outcomes and preventing lower limb loss in patients with chronic, non-healing wounds. Our approach to wound care is aggressive and comprehensive, coordinating traditional and advanced therapies and techniques that reduce healing time and improve healing rates.

The clinic is staffed with a multi-disciplinary team of affiliated physicians along with nurses and technicians with advanced training in wound care and hyperbaric medicine. Integrating a team of wound care professionals optimizes patient care, while offering advanced healing options.

As a comprehensive wound healing clinic, we specialize in the treatment of chronic, non-healing wounds including:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Venous ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Non-healing, post-surgical wounds
  • Arterial/ischemic ulcers
  • Post-radiation ulcers

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

We offer hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO), a treatment that is administered in a hyperbaric chamber that delivers 100% oxygen with increase atmospheric pressure. The air pressure inside a hyperbaric oxygen chamber is about two and a half times greater than the normal pressure in the atmosphere. This “hyperbaric” (or high pressure) dose of oxygen helps your blood carry more oxygen to your organs and tissues to promote wound healing. It also activates the white blood cells to fight infection.
