Sports Medicine
Our orthopedic surgeons treat the full array of sports-related athletic injuries, including fractures, sprains, strains and torn ligaments and cartilage. We also manage chronic conditions of the knee, hip, foot, ankle, elbow, wrist and shoulder using non-surgical treatments or, when necessary, with surgical techniques.
Our goal is to return patients to healthy, active lives, whether they’re recovering from joint replacement surgery or getting back on track after a minor sports injury. Our orthopedic surgeons are committed to the rapid and successful recovery of patients, whether they’re professional athletes or active participants in recreational sports. We also provide education focused on avoidance of future injuries.
Our surgeons use the latest arthroscopic technology to provide the most minimally invasive treatment. Many of our surgeons are fellowship-trained and experienced in the subspecialty demands of arthroscopic sports medicine surgery.
Fracture Care. Broken bones and stress fractures require expert treatment, rehabilitation and physician-guided recovery. Our orthopedic surgeons are experts in closed treatment, including casts, splints and braces. When surgery is required, we use minimally invasive percutaneous fixation techniques or internal fixation and stabilization with implants, including pins, rods, plates, screws or wires.
Arthroscopy. Many joint injuries and conditions can be treated using an arthroscope, a small fiber-optic viewing instrument inserted through a small incision. Arthroscopic procedures are done on an outpatient basis, and patients return home the same day.
Knee and Hip Surgery. We specialize in knee and hip surgery, offering the latest in orthopedic treatment and surgical techniques and the most progressive standard of care available. We perform more than 800 procedures each year using advanced arthroscopic, minimally invasive and reconstructive techniques.
The Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine Institute. As a Memorial Hermann provider, we offer expanded patient services at the prestigious Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine Institute located at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. The Institute is the partner of choice for the Houston Rockets, Houston Aeros, University of Houston, Texas A&M University and Rice University Athletics. The Institute sets the pace for sports medicine protocols, challenging traditional methods and developing new, less invasive procedures. Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center will be opening a new, expanded sports medicine facility later this year.
