Northeast Hospital
The cardiovascular program at Memorial Hermann Northeast offers access to a wide range of specialized services, clinical excellence and state-of-the-art technology. At Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital, we are dedicated to ensuring that you have access to the high quality emergency cardiac care you need, when you need it. Using advanced technology, our team of physicians and specialists work together to design an individual treatment plan based on your specific heart condition.
Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital recently opened two new cardiac catheterization labs. The $4.8 million project more than doubles the size of Northeast’s Cath Lab facility and brings to northeast Harris and southeast Montgomery counties the latest technology delivering the highest quality images. The new Cath Labs are conveniently located on the first floor of the Southwest Tower. They feature the unique bi-plane electrophysiology lab which allows Northeast to provide a unique array of diagnostic and invasive procedures including heart catheterization to evaluate the coronary arteries and heart function, invasive cardiology to treat coronary artery blockages, cardioversion to correct an irregular heartbeat, transesophageal echocardiogram for detailed imaging of the internal structures of the heart, defibrillator insertion/change-outs, and pacemaker insertion/change-outs.
These labs greatly enhance our ability to diagnose and treat a wide range of cardiac conditions – from the simplest to the most complex, and helps meet an ever-growing need for sophisticated care. Patients living in the area will no longer have to travel outside the Humble area for world-class cardiac care. It will be right here in their neighborhood.
Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital offers a comprehensive interventional cardiology program available around the clock and is designated as a nationally accredited Chest Pain Center which allows our physicians to reduce the time to treatment during the critical early stages of a heart attack.

The first signs of a heart attack trigger a risk-filled race against time. With each passing minute, the heart muscle is damaged further. Knowing where to go for emergency cardiac care can mean the difference between life and death. Memorial Hermann Northeast is an Accredited Chest Pain Center as designated by the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC). Accredited Chest Pain Centers undergo a rigorous evaluation process by the SCPC based on their ability to assess, diagnose, and treat patients quickly and effectively. Currently there are less than 400 accredited chest pain centers, representing only 10% of United States hospitals.
Working in partnership with EMS, emergency physicians, cardiologists and critical care nurses, a Chest Pain Center’s goal is to shorten the time from a patient’s initial cardiac symptoms to treatment. Accredited Chest Pain Centers have been found to reduce the mortality rates of patients suffering from chest pain through a very specific, protocol-driven and systematic approach which allows physicians to:
- Treat patients more quickly during
the critical early stages of heart attack, when treatments are most
effective.
- Better monitor patients when it’s
not clear whether they are having a coronary event, which ensures that
patients are not sent home too early or needlessly admitted.
Northeast’s Heart
Team can perform the necessary intervention to accurately diagnose and treat
the coronary artery blockage and is available around the clock for persons
experiencing a heart attack. If cardiac
surgery is necessary, patients can be quickly transferred via Memorial Hermann
Life Flight for a higher level of care to the Memorial Hermann
Heart & Vascular Institute-Texas Medical
Center. The Institute is affiliated with The
University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Northeast patients who are transferred to the
Institute have access to world-class heart surgeons with extensive training and
experience in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery including complex
robotic-assisted procedures.
The Heart & Vascular program at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital offers specialists in vascular surgery and endovascular surgery. Vascular disease is complex, requiring a broad range of knowledge and expertise to ensure effective treatment. Our physicians offer state-of-the-art diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of diseases of the circulatory system. Our vascular program includes aortic surgery (AAA), carotid endarterectomy surgery, dialysis access surgery, peripheral vascular disease diagnosis and intervention, vascular angioplasty and stenting, and vein ligation. Our vascular specialists training qualify them to provide the most appropriate treatment to each patient. The new, minimally invasive endovascular procedures produce excellent outcomes and rapid recovery.
