A strong commitment on the part of patients, families and caregivers is important in recovery following brain surgery or injury, which may result in changes in language, memory, behavior and personality. Our comprehensive neuro rehabilitation services are designed to assist patients in restoring and maintaining function.
We work with each patient to maximize his or her outcome following stroke through specialized therapy services in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Comprehensive care reinforces treatment goals for patients at all levels of functioning following a cerebrovascular accident (CVA). We also provide support groups, counseling and individualized training to prepare families and caregivers to assume the additional responsibilities of caring for the patient after discharge.
Our therapists provide comprehensive rehab services for individuals recuperating from an accident, injury or surgery, working to help the patient return to their former level of activity and lifestyle as quickly as possible. Our program features a comprehensive approach to the restoration of function and mobility by focusing on manual therapy, exercise therapy, gait training and strength and conditioning therapy.
The Outpatient Amputee Program at Memorial Hermann Memorial City helps patients and their families to cope physically and psychologically with the traumatic or surgical loss of a limb or congenital limb deficiency. We work closely with prosthetists to ensure optimal fit and function of prostheses with a goal of restoring function and independent mobility.
Rehabilitation therapy enhances the lives of people with Parkinson’s disease by helping them increase their strength, endurance, balance and general energy level.
Patients with vision impairments can learn to live independent lives with the help of low-vision therapy. Our occupational therapists recommend and train patients to use assistive devices that can aid in the completion of daily activities. We also educate patients and their families on how to use other senses to compensate for vision loss.
The Bariatric Rehabilitation Program provides comprehensive rehabilitation services for individuals overcoming obesity. The primary focus of therapy is to assist the recovering patient in improving function and health.
Our Balance Program is designed for patients who suffer from vestibular, central nervous system or peripheral nervous system conditions and diseases. The primary focus of therapy is to assist patients in restoring balance and improving mobility and daily function.
