Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute-Texas Medical Center In 2006, the National Institutes of Health awarded The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston a $36 million, five-year grant to enhance clinical and translational research, and to ultimately improve patient care and community health. The UT Health Science Center, The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Memorial Hermann Healthcare System partnered in planning the grant and will collaborate on many research and educational activities supported by the new Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences. Through the Clinical Innovation and Research Institute at Memorial Hermann, we will serve as the coordination point and liaison for community engagement projects with several other Memorial Hermann hospitals. The following is a cross-section of sample cardiovascular research currently in progress or recently completed at the Memorial Hermann Heart & Vascular Institute-Texas Medical Center.
