TIRR Memorial Hermann

About Our Hospital

Dunn TowerContinually recognized as one of America's Best Hospitals, TIRR Memorial Hermann is regarded as a national leader in medical rehabilitation and research. We are a teaching hospital for Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas Medical School at Houston.

Some of the world’s leading physicians in rehabilitation medicine provide care at TIRR. Its patient care environment blending passionate staff, exemplary care and a commitment to overall quality of life distinguishes TIRR. The facility transforms lives and inspires hope in people whose lives have been significantly altered by an illness or injury.

Medical rehabilitation has rapidly developed and expanded in recent years, permitting many people with injuries or disabilities to achieve far greater levels of function and independence than previously thought possible. These medical and technological advances – along with appropriate case management and early admission to rehabilitation programs – have prevented complications, improved quality of life and reduced lifetime medical expenses.

Interdisciplinary treatment teams at TIRR, an acute rehabilitation hospital, and TIRR’s Physician and Specialty Clinic and TIRR Memorial Hermann Kirby Glen (a facility that offers Day Rehabilitation and Outpatient Rehabilitation), provide a comprehensive continuum of medical rehabilitation.

TIRR provides comprehensive medical rehabilitation for individuals who have experienced a traumatic brain injury or stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, multiple trauma, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease or other neurological or neuromuscular disorders and complex orthopedic injuries. This not-for-profit hospital has served the community from its location in the Texas Medical Center since 1959. Admission to TIRR can occur as soon as the patient is medically stable and accepted for admission.

Catastrophic injury or illness may include traumatic brain injury or severe stroke, spinal cord injury, single or multiple amputations, multiple trauma, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease or other neurological or neuromuscular disorders and complex orthopedic injuries.
