Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death and one of the most diagnosed forms of cancer in the United States, effecting both men and women. The risk of getting this type of cancer increases with age. Fortunately, lung cancer incidence and mortality is decreasing as cigarette smoking has decreased in popularity.
Risk factors for lung cancer include:
- Smoking tobacco
- Being around second-hand tobacco smoke
- Exposure to radon gas or asbestos
- Family history
Screening and Prevention
