Joint Replacement Program
The Joint Replacement Program at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, a team of orthopedic surgeons, specially trained nurses, therapists and other caregivers treats and rehabilitates these debilitating conditions.
The Program has set up a unique program to treat and rehabilitate people that come in for hip and knee replacement surgery. The program gives patients the opportunity to share the joint replacement experience in a group setting, from pre-operative education to post-operative rehabilitation.
Prior to surgery, patients attend two separate classes to learn about their surgeries and the rehabilitation process that immediately follows.
The program begins immediately after surgery when patients begin a four-day, post-operative rehabilitation. Dressed comfortably, patients are referred to as “campers” and participate in group therapy, dining and other activities that assist them in regaining strength and mobility.
