The Ertan Digestive Disease Center and the Gastroenterology Center of Excellence at Memorial Hermann/UT Health provides a multidisciplinary approach to treating women with digestive health issues. The goals of our center are to focus on:
- Preference for gender concordance with an endoscopist
- Gender differences in the tolerance of procedures (due to previous abdominal or pelvic surgeries)
- Consequences of physical or sexual abuse on the endoscopy experience
- Women's health in GI to focus on barriers to colorectal cancer screening in women
- Gastrointestinal complications from pelvic malignancies
- Genetic counseling for women with a family history of colon and other gastrointestinal cancers
