A life-changing tackle for Woodlands teen

Camp Berryman had no idea a football play he had made so many times before would end up changing his life. While making a tackle in a game last September, Berryman suffered a carotid dissection, leading to symptoms of stroke. Then 14 years old, Berryman, was taken to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center the next day, where the carotid dissection was discovered. One month later, a stent was placed in his carotid artery by neuro interventionist Gary Spiegel, M.D. The teenager and his mother, Kristi Berryman, are grateful for the care that saved his life. Camp just finished baseball season and is learning a new sport, lacrosse.
