“The Volunteer Auxiliary at Memorial Hermann Katy stocked the Honeysuckle Boutique with unique items that people won’t find at big name retailers," says Heather Rojas, director of volunteers at Memorial Hermann Katy.“Whether people are looking for a baby gift or something for the new mom, we tried to capture the ‘boutique’ feel that our name implies.”
The Honeysuckle Boutique also offers specialty products, like fashionable labor and delivery hospital gowns, clothes for premature infants, as well as breast pump rentals. Located down the hall from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the boutique also connects to a resource center where families can get more information on services provided by the hospital and research medical conditions.
“We know that parents of children in the NICU have a lot of questions. They can utilize the resource center computer to research topics relevant to their child. We also can direct them to resources on topics like breastfeeding and nutrition,” says Carol Rodriguez Carroll, BA, BSN, RNC, IBCLC, a certified lactation consultant with Memorial Hermann Katy.
Memorial Hermann Katy is a Texas Ten Step facility, as designated by the Texas Department of State Health Services and the Texas Hospital Association. The Texas Ten Step Program encourages breastfeeding as the preferred method of feeding for newborns and infants.
The Honeysuckle Boutique is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the third floor of the hospital’s east tower.
