Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital Hosts First Wedding

CYPRESS (November15, 2017)

Cypress WeddingEmployees at Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital were happy to help a bride and groom make their wedding come true, after a trip to the Emergency Center changed their original plans.

“I’d been feeling sick all week. As I was getting my hair and makeup done at a friend’s house, I passed out. The next thing I remember, the paramedics were over me and I was taken to the hospital,” remembers Kelly Bailey Blomberg.

Blomberg was transported to the ER at Memorial Hermann Cypress, where physicians diagnosed her with extreme dehydration and an upper respiratory infection.

“My family could tell there was no way I could make it through a ceremony and reception. Andrew, my now husband, told me it didn’t matter where we got married. He would marry me right there,” she says.

A member of the bridal party asked about the hospital chapel, and employees began planning a ceremony. Two hours later, the bridal party and family donned their wedding attire, and the planned ceremony and reception with 140 guests was reduced to an intimate affair with just their family and closest friends.

“It’s not the way I planned, but it was still very sweet and I wouldn’t change it for the world. We’re married and that’s all that matters. I am very thankful to everyone at the hospital, along with my family and friends, for making it happen,” says Blomberg.

Newlyweds Andrew and Kelly Blomberg plan to hold their reception at a later date at their original venue.
