Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital Now Offers Pet Therapy Program
Modeled after successful pet therapy programs across the Memorial Hermann Health System, Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital now offers pet therapy visits to patients.
“We have seen the calming and positive impact the pet visits can have on patients. We believe this is one more way that we can improve the patient experience and are excited to expand the program to Memorial Hermann Cypress,” says Heath Rushing, Sr. Vice President and CEO of Memorial Hermann Cypress and Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital.
The program is a partnership between Memorial Hermann Cypress and Tender Loving K9’s, a local non-profit organization that visits hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, and nursing homes.
“We find that many of the people we visit have dogs at home, or previously owned animals, and they are often missing those furry friends. We see the joy that these animals can bring to people. Somehow, they just know what each person needs without having to say a word,” says Sharon Evans, founder of Tender Loving K9’s.
Pet therapy visits are scheduled each Monday from 2 – 3 p.m. Patients will have the opportunity to request or decline the visit that day.
