TV Personalities Giuliana and Bill Rancic to headline 2012 luncheon
THE WOODLANDS, TX (April 20, 2012) - Nearly 100 In the Pink of Health committee members, physicians, hospital executives and community supporters who gathered at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital last night received a two-for-one treat when the newly-redesigned Breast & Bone Center was unveiled along with exciting news about this year's luncheon keynote speakers - TV personalities Giuliana and Bill Rancic.
The evening began with a hors d' oeuvres tasting courtesy of Américas. Guests then sipped on wine and explored the updated and redesigned Breast & Bone Center that had been transformed into a luxurious oasis thanks to monies raised by the In the Pink of Health committee and design services generously donated by Woodlands Fabrics & Interiors.
"The goal of the project was to create a space that was soothing, warm and welcoming for women who are coming in for their annual mammogram or other medical procedures," said In the Pink of Health co-chairs Megan Alexander and Ruth Hiller. "Nancy and her team at Woodlands Fabrics and Interiors hit the nail on the head. Utilizing the committee's signature bright pink, married with calming grays, nature artwork and posh extras, they created a comfortable, spa-like environment where women can relax, even while waiting for a state-of-the-art 3-D mammogram."
Woodlands Fabrics & Interiors started the project late last year and incorporated the following elements:
- Fresh paint, new trim and chair railing
- New drapery, carpet and flooring throughout
- Reupholstered seating
- Added chandeliers in reception, waiting areas
- Custom, floral artwork
- New floral arrangements and a large cherry blossom tree
- Surround sound stereo
- Custom display cabinet for In the Pink of Health merchandise
"The space is not only beautiful, it's also safe," said Kimberly Graff, special projects assistant at Woodlands Fabrics & Interiors. "It was uniquely designed with antimicrobial and antibacterial surfaces that reduce or inhibit bacteria growth."
Additionally, the committee unveiled a new Pink Partners donor wall that honors individuals and companies that have made a significant investment in the In the Pink of Health mission, including Adcetera, CB&I, Boe Creative, H-E-B, Kroger and Tiffany & Co.
The highlight of the evening was the announcement of Giuliana and Bill Rancic as keynote speakers for the 12th Annual Memorial Hermann In the Pink of Health luncheon. Husband and wife TV personalities and entrepreneurs, Giuliana and Bill will speak to attendees about the power of a positive attitude.
Giuliana is one of the world's most credible and well-known entertainment journalists and can be seen nightly as anchor of E! News. She is also the co-star of E!'s popular Fashion Police team, alongside legendary comic Joan Rivers. A young breast cancer survivor, she recently created "Fab-U-Wish," a program to grant fashion, beauty and celebrity-themed wishes to women battling breast cancer. The program is just one aspect of her ongoing mission to help those going through hardships to find happiness and a positive outlook on life.
Bill Rancic burst onto the national scene when he was hired by Donald Trump as the winner of the first season of NBC's breakthrough program The Apprentice. Today, he hosts the nationally-syndicated America Now program and is one of the most sought-after motivational speakers on the topics of entrepreneurship and business. Bill educates and inspires audiences by sharing the lessons he's learned throughout his business career, from the pancake venture he started with his grandmother at age 10 through his current multi-million dollar real estate enterprise in Chicago.
In April, the couple launched the fifth season of their hit reality show on the Style Network, Giuliana & Bill. The program follows the couple as they navigate the tricky waters of balancing family and work, overcoming health-related obstacles and making their marriage work amid the fast pace of Hollywood.
"We couldn't be more excited to have Giuliana and Bill as our keynote speakers," said Alexander and Hiller. "They will bring a different perspective to our audience. In the past, we've pretty much focused solely on the survivor. This year, we will not only hear from a breast cancer survivor, but we'll hear from her caregiver and how they fought this illness together and stayed positive and hopeful through it all."
The 12th Annual Memorial Hermann In the Pink of Health Luncheon will be held on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott. Sponsorship opportunities are available for the luncheon. A limited number of individual tickets also will be sold. For more information, visit www.inthepinkofhealth.org or call 713.897.PINK (7465).
