Memorial Hermann Names Mukesh Patel and Bassem Tawadrous as Southeast Campus Physicians of the Quarter

Memorial Hermann Healthcare System announces the selection of Mukesh Patel, M.D., and Bassem Tawadrous, M.D., as physicians of the quarter for Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital. Dr. Patel was selected as the physician of the first quarter of the year, and Dr. Tawadrous was chosen as the physician of the second quarter.
Both physicians were recognized by hospital employees as excellent responders, collaborators and caregivers. Some of the nomination criteria included: returning pages and/or calls in a timely manner; working collaboratively with unit staff to enhance patient care; interacting with others in a respective, cooperative and positive manner; fostering patient satisfaction and contributing to the development of the hospital's clinical staff.
Dr. Patel, Memorial Hermann Southeast's physician of the first quarter of 2008, has over 22 years of experience, as a physician, and has been with Memorial Hermann for six years. He is an internist at Southeast Hospital, where he also serves as Chairman of Medicine. His areas of interest are diabetes, hypertension and pulmonary disease. Dr. Patel obtained his medical degree from the Baroda Medical College in India and also holds a master of public health from Harvard University. He and his wife, Kaumudi, reside in Houston.
Dr. Tawadrous, Memorial Hermann Southeast's physician of the second quarter of 2008, has over eight years of experience as a physician. He is an expert in obstetrics and gynecology with Southeast Hospital and has been with Memorial Hermann for four years. Dr. Tawadrous obtained his medical degree from Texas Tech University. He and his wife, Jacklin, and his children Elizabeth, age 6, and Emma, age 4, also reside in Houston.
