Memorial Hermann Southeast cardiologist wins Hind Rattan Award

Dr. Avinash Bapat, cardiologist at Memorial Hermann Southeast, is the 2010 recipient of the Hind Rattan Award presented by the Non Resident Indian (NRI) Welfare Society of India.
Dr. Bapat accepted the award at the 29th International Congress in New Delhi. The prestigious award is for his prominent role in cardiology and his exceptional and ethical patient care.
Over the past two decades with various Memorial Hermann hospitals, Dr. Bapat has earned much recognition for his contributions. In 2007, he was named physician of the year at Memorial Hermann Southeast. In 2008, he received the "Master of the American Academy of Cardiology," an award that specially recognizes cardiologists for their ethics and principles.
He has spent many years serving on the board of trustees for Memorial Hermann and several committees, including Cardiology and Ethics.
Dr. Bapat is also making his mark on education as a faculty member at UT and Baylor Universities and as a member of several cardiology and medical societies.
