New $70 Million Patient Tower at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital Raises Level of Care for Community

HOUSTON (November16, 2018)

Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital today hosted a community open house to celebrate the unveiling of its new patient tower. Hundreds of area residents toured the new tower with hospital leaders, physicians and staff, where they got a chance to learn more about the hospital’s enhanced amenities and services.

“Memorial Hermann is committed to expanding advanced healthcare services deeper into the communities where people live and work,” Chuck Stokes, President and CEO of Memorial Hermann Health System, said to visitors. “Over the past few years, we’ve grown alongside this community, adding several Memorial Hermann Medical Group offices and partnering with H-E-B to operate area RediClinics. Now, with the opening of our Convenient Care Center in Kingwood, as well as this new state-of-the-art tower, patients have even more access to one of the most trusted, award-winning and extensive health networks in the region.”

The $70 million, 123,000-square-foot, five-story patient tower features 90 large patient rooms with the flexibility to add an additional 30 beds as needed. It also features a new gift shop, the Northeast Bistro and a coffee bar called Healing Brew. Additionally, 240 new parking spots were added to accommodate patients and visitors. Patients will transition into the new tower in late November.

“As the Greater Lake Houston area continues to grow, we will continue to respond with facilities like the new patient tower, as well as new technology and a higher level of services,” said Josh Urban, Senior Vice President and CEO of Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital and Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center.

In addition to the tower, a new four-story, 100,000-square-foot professional office building is now open on the campus. Medical Plaza 2 houses physician offices and services.

Other recent investments in the hospital include an expanded and fully renovated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a new chemotherapy infusion suite that boasts upgraded patient amenities like reclining chairs and individual televisions, as well as more space for family and friends to join patients during chemotherapy treatments. These improvements were made possible with support from the Northeast Hospital Authority.

“We owe much gratitude to the Northeast Hospital Authority.  They have been a steadfast partner over the last decade and continue to work with us to ensure projects like the new tower come to fruition,” added Urban.

Memorial Hermann Northeast is a 255-licensed bed facility that has been caring for families in the community for nearly four decades. In addition to the hospital, Memorial Hermann has several facilities that serve the healthcare needs of those who live and work in the Lake Houston area, including Convenient Care Centers in Kingwood and Summer Creek, RediClinics in Atascocita and Kingwood, and several Memorial Hermann Medical Group and Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation clinics throughout the area.
