The Woodlands area Girls Run group raised $5,000 for the Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Breast and Bone Health Center to help in the fight against breast cancer. Girls Run is comprised of dozens or area girls ages 7 to 13 who are committed to physical fitness. On Saturdays, the girls train and participate in educational programs.
On Jan. 26, the girls came to the Breast and Bone Health Center to present their check and were invited to take a behind the scenes tour of the center and hear a breast cancer presentation by Amy Nordmann, M.D., breast radiologist with the center.
Girls Run selected both the Breast and Bone Health Center and Live Strong as their charities of choice. The group's founders, Brook Baugh and Katie Cromer, both experienced the loss of their mother to breast cancer and hoped to educate their own daughters, as well as other young girls about making their health a priority.
