Remembering Anne Wilford

     Anne Wilford

Houston, Texas, March 14, 2003 -- The Memorial Hermann family is grieving the death of Anne Wilford, wife of retired Memorial Hermann President and CEO Dan S. Wilford. The couple was involved in an automobile accident in Laurel, Mississippi, on Thursday, March 13. Anne Wilford died in the accident. Dan Wilford was transferred from Hattiesburg to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. Longtime residents of Sugar Land, the Wilfords were en route to their vacation home outside Knoxville, Tennessee, when the accident occurred.

Over the years, Anne and Dan Wilford have been highly regarded for their personal and professional examples as caring, compassionate leaders in the Houston community and beyond. Anne’s faithful example has been a beacon of light and personal inspiration to her family and friends and to all of us at Memorial Hermann. Anne served for 15 years as a leader of Bible Study Fellowship, an interdenominational bible study group. An active member of the Houston Baptist University Guild, Anne was also on the board of A.D. Players. In the spring of 1999, Anne and Dan were honored at the Memorial Hermann Circle of Life Gala and in November 2000, they were recipients of the Seasons of Caring Award presented by Interface-Samaritan Counseling Centers of Houston.

A graduate of the University of Arkansas, Anne earned a B.A. in Elementary Education. She and Dan, who were high school sweethearts, married soon after graduating from college.

In addition to her husband, Dan, Anne Wilford is survived by daughter Kelly and husband Richard Harb, Jr., of Knoxville, Tennessee; son Jeff and wife Aimee of New Braunfels, Texas; and grandchildren, Richard and Annie Harb, and Lyndsay, Logan and Campbell Wilford.

Funeral services are pending. E-greetings may be sent to the family.
