New Medical Plaza Brings the Latest in Outpatient Services to Memorial Hermann Sugar Land

Sugar Land , Texas, May 31, 2006 – The new Medical Plaza at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land brings state-of-the-art diagnostic technology and outpatient services to the community. This conveniently located facility is designed to maximize patient comfort and minimize stress by delivering outstanding service in a soothing environment.

“By combining the latest healthcare advances, the very best customer service and a calming atmosphere, we hope to provide a different kind of experience for our patients,” said Rod Brace, CEO of Memorial Hermann Fort Bend Hospital.

The 125,000-sq.-ft. Medical Plaza is located at Highway 59 and the Grand Parkway, adjacent to the new Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital which will open in December. The Medical Plaza includes outpatient imaging and surgical facilities as well as laboratory services, a sleep disorders center and Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation.

The Memorial Hermann Imaging Center offers a full range of imaging technologies, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), bone density testing, X-rays, and ultrasound with vascular imaging capabilities.

Also available will be new digital mammography technology, which a recent study found to be more effective than traditional mammography at detecting cancer in young women or those with dense breast tissue.

Imaging services other than mammography will also be available at the current Memorial Hermann Fort Bend Hospital in Missouri City until December 2006.

“This new imaging center offers convenience for both patients and physicians,” said Allie Fonville, director of imaging services. “Patients will benefit from the availability of advanced diagnostic services near where they live and work, and physicians receive reports promptly. We also contract with most health insurance companies in the area. This new facility is part of our plan to open full-service imaging centers in locations throughout Houston.”

Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation offers full-service physical therapy specializing in sports medicine and stroke rehabilitation. Features will include a SwimEx Aquatic Therapy Pool, speech therapy and occupational therapy provided by a certified hand therapist.

The Sleep Disorders Center will feature four comfortable bedroom suites for round-the-clock monitoring and care by board-certified physicians.

The building also includes an outpatient surgery center that offers an array of procedures. A joint venture between Memorial Hermann, physicians and United Surgical Partners International, which manages the facility, the surgery center will open in September.
