Houston, Texas, July 14, 2005 – All of his physicians are extremely pleased with the recovery status of retired coach O.A. “Bum” Phillips who underwent bypass surgery at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital on Friday, July 8. He is gaining strength daily and is now able to walk in the halls. His postoperative recovery continues to be uncomplicated and on schedule.

Mr. Phillips' discharge date has not yet been determined. He and his wife would like to express their gratitude for all of the prayers and support that he has received from the fans in Houston and Texas.
