Hermann HealthNet Provider's Worklink Becomes a Certified Worker's
Compensation Network.
Houston,
Texas – Certification
of Memorial
Hermann HealthNet Provider’s WorkLink program
as a worker’s compensation network gives Houston area
employers a new option for directing care and lowering the
cost of workplace injuries, in keeping with new state laws
enabling creation of managed care systems for treating injured
workers.
WorkLink is the
third physician network to be certified under new Texas workers’ compensation
laws that took effect in January. The designation allows WorkLink to
serve employers who are self-insured for worker’s compensation.
When
a company chooses a certified workers’ compensation network,
injured workers who live in the network’s coverage area must
select a treating doctor from a list provided by the network. Referrals
from the treating physician are required for specialty care.
“Our
state lawmakers recognized that applying managed care principles
to the workers’ compensation system would help employers offer
appropriate, cost-effective treatment for injured workers,” said
WorkLink director Danielle Barrera. “We are excited about helping
corporations throughout southeast Texas.”
An occupational
benefits management program designed to help corporations manage
employee accidents and injuries, WorkLink serves an 11-county area
surrounding Houston. Occupational benefits it provides include case
management, occupational medicine, claims, processing, wellness,
customized provider network and on-site services.
