Friday update regarding “Bum” Phillips

Houston, Texas, July 15, 2005 – Retired coach O.A. “Bum” Phillips continues to make excellent postoperative progress since his triple-vessel bypass surgery at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital on July 8. His strength is steadily improving as is his exercise tolerance.

He is in good spirits and has been visited by a number of former Houston Oilers. He is up and walking the hallways daily, and the nurses often encourage him to “take another lap.”

While he remains at the hospital, daily progress reports are accessible through the online newsroom at www.memorialhermann.org.
