Health
Care Services and Medical Space to Grow Again at Memorial Hermann Houston, Texas, July
17, 2003 -- Architects
are designing the latest addition to the Memorial
Hermann Southeast Hospital campus. A second medical office building
will bring more office space, more doctors, and more medical services.
The latest
project responds to the growing healthcare needs of the Southeast
Houston area.
Hospital CEO Dan Martin says, “The expansion is part of our commitment
to deliver the best healthcare that Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital can.
Since our first medical office building has been fully occupied for several
years, an additional building with added services is the right thing to do.”
The
new medical office building will be approximately 80,000 to 100,000 square
feet and will be built on the hospital’s existing campus.
Not only will
the new space allow for the expansion of existing services, there will be
more offerings as well. Women’s services will be consolidated
by locating in the new building, and will include a new Breast Center.
Medical
oncology will also be housed in the new structure and will be easy to access.
Along with the
services, the facility will allow the addition of as many as 70 more
doctors.
The latest building plan is in addition to the $70 million expansion
project currently taking place, which allows for expanded clinical
and diagnostic areas, including a new Emergency Center, a dedicated
Heart Center which features a state of the art cardiac catheterization
laboratory, and 18 additional Intensive Care beds. Completion for this
project is set for Fall 2004.
Ground breaking for the new medical office
building is estimated to begin in mid 2004, and completion is targeted
for 2005.
