Memorial Hermann Honored for Business Ethics
Houston, Texas, September 29, 2003 -- The Health Ethics Trust, a division of the Council of Ethical Organizations,
has presented Memorial Hermann Healthcare System with a Best Compliance
Practices Award.
This national honor recognizes Memorial Hermann for its commitment
to, and accomplishments in, the area of Integrating Audit and Internal
Controls with Ethics and Compliance. On September 15, the non-profit,
community-based healthcare organization was presented with the award
at the 2003 Healthcare Best Compliance Practices Forum in Alexandria,
Virginia. The Forum was established to identify actual best compliance
practices tested by leading organizations and reviewed by peers.
CEO Dan Wolterman
said, “The
people of Memorial Hermann Healthcare System are very pleased to
receive this award. We believe it reflects
the purpose and values our organization has worked to uphold for nearly
a century.”
Based on independent
benchmarking of healthcare systems nationwide, Memorial Hermann’s Internal Audit and Corporate Compliance group
is one of the most efficient and effective of its kind. The Best Practices
Review Committee of the Health Ethics Trust indicated the group’s
ability to flex up and flex down relative to the magnitude of issues
at hand is exceptional.
