New Outpatient Imaging Center Brings Leading Technology to
Memorial Hermann The Woodlands

Houston, Texas, November 8, 2005 – The newly opened Outpatient Imaging Center at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands brings the latest in diagnostic technology to the community in a convenient, spa-like setting.

“We’re continuing to create exceptional experiences for our patients by combining state-of-the-art technology, the very best customer service and a soothing atmosphere,” said Steve Sanders, CEO of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital. “And the new services are easily accessed by residents of Montgomery and north Harris County.”

The new Imaging Center occupies 35,000 square feet on the first floor of the hospital’s new Medical Office Building III at 9200 Pinecroft. The new facility also includes a Breast and Bone Health Center and a Bladder Health Center, with a 17,500-square-foot outpatient surgery center on the second floor.

The center’s expanded capabilities include advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology. This 3-Tesla MRI is twice as strong as conventional units and provides unsurpassed imaging and diagnostic capabilities, according to Dawanda Lovell, director of outpatient imaging. “The image quality is much better, and the imaging is much faster,” she explained.

The Outpatient Imaging Center offers the full gamut of imaging technologies, including a 16-slice computed tomography (CT) scanner, nuclear medicine capabilities, combination PET/CT imaging, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and X-ray.

The new Breast and Bone Health Center features cutting-edge technologies such as double-breast MRI and image-guided needle biopsies. Breast cancer screenings are now performed using digital mammograms, which a recent study found to be more effective than traditional mammography at detecting cancer in young women or those with dense breast tissue.

The Bladder Health Center provides comprehensive care for problems with the lower urinary tract and pelvic floor. Services include urodynamic testing, pelvic floor rehabilitation, and support and education for incontinence and urinary catheterization.
