Memorial Hermann Hospital Trauma/Emergency Center

Memorial Hermann Hospital’s always bustling Trauma/Emergency Center also gets a new home. Located on the ground floor of the Hermann Pavilion, the 51,000-square-foot emergency center is more than three times the size of the former center.

Both staff and patients benefit from the Center’s easy access and layout. Two entrances, designated for walk-in and ambulance traffic, respectively, help reduce congestion and confusion.

The new Center includes four major trauma suites, one dedicated to pediatric trauma patients. There are two chest pain treatment rooms and a seven-bed fastER care area for the treatment of minor emergencies. In the urgent care area, there are 11 rooms for handling the medical needs of our critical patients.
    

Pediatric Emergency Center
With the opening of the Hermann Pavilion, pediatric patients will for the first time be treated in a separate area of the Emergency Center. The area includes seven private rooms. Pediatric-trained staffed in this area assist in the medical care of our youngest patients.

Providing the best care for all levels of emergencies, the pediatric emergency area treats all levels of emergencies — from the youngster with a broken arm to the pre-teen transported by Memorial Hermann Life Flight following a serious car accident.   

Adult Emergency Care
Adult patients now have a total of 25 beds in the trauma and medical care area for their evaluation and treatment. The adult waiting areas now extend along two thirds of the east face of the building and include dividing walls, allowing patients and families more privacy.

A key feature of the new Emergency Center is the dedicated trauma elevator that quickly transports patients arriving by Memorial Hermann Life Flight atop the building down to the Emergency Center.
