For patients who want to feel more comfortable during and after pregnancy.
Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation's Prenatal/Postnatal Health Program provides early intervention for patients who are likely to experience muscosketetal issues during and after pregnancy. Our program is designed for women with activity intolerance, pain, weakness or core instability.
Most physical ailments experienced during pregnancy can be treated with physical therapy which includes relaxation techniques, proper body mechanics and stretching and strengthening exercises.
After childbirth, some women may notice changes that might have not been present during pregnancy. A physical therapy plan that includes a proper exercise and stretching program may alleviate these conditions.
Interventions are based on a comprehensive musculoskeletal evaluation and physician prescription. They range from exercise-based home programs to a formal program of physical therapy.
