Physician Biography
Hector del Castillo, Jr., M.D. received his undergraduate degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and his medical degrees from The Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico as well as from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UT Health) Medical School. He completed his internship training in obstetrics and gynecology at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana through Tulane University. Upon receiving his commission as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, Dr. del Castillo performed his residency training at the U.S. Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. del Castillo has a strong interest in natural childbirth, VBACs, human identical hormones, wellness and minimally invasive gyn surgery. He has practiced medicine for more than 25 years in the Texas Medical Center. Dr. del Castillo is a clinical assistant professor at UT Health Medical School and has served as chief of obstetrics and gynecology at Park Plaza Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Dr. del Castillo is fluent in Spanish and provides health care for women from adolescence to well beyond menopause. He prides himself in being a good listener, ensuring each patient’s comfort and considering patient feedback in treatment decisions.
Away from the office, Dr. del Castillo appreciates spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He also enjoys swimming, playing golf, tennis and traveling.
