Clinical Indicators

Pneumonia

Pneumonia is a medical condition involving an infection in the lungs. An irritation to the lining of the lungs causes fluid to collect, often making breathing difficult.

Indicators

Oxygenation assessment – Maintaining an adequate oxygen level in the blood has been shown to improve the outcome of patients with pneumonia. Blood oxygen levels should be tested within 24 hours prior to or after arrival at the hospital.
