Taking control of diabetes has many benefits. Keeping your blood sugar (also called blood glucose) levels in the normal range can make a big difference now and in the future. The Memorial Hermann Healthcare System Diabetes Education Network Team offers programs designed for newly diagnosed patients as well as established diabetic patients.
Diabetes Education Programs
Each participating Memorial Hermann hospital listed below offers a unique program for patients diagnosed with Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes. The programs are approved by the American Diabetes Association and are taught by certified diabetes educators.
Diabetes Education covers the principles of Diabetes Self-Management including:

- Exercise and glucose control
- Avoiding complications
- Foot Care
- Medications
- Blood Glucose Monitoring

Class Schedules & Cost
Class schedules vary by campus. Please contact the hospital campus closest to you for more information. Links to individual campus information can be found at the bottom of this page. The cost of the program is covered by most insurance groups, including Medicare, for diabetes education each year to prevent complications of the disease process. Please contact your insurance provider to verify your benefits.
