Article in the Houston Chronicle
discussed the "No-Scalpel Vasectomy"
and the fact that Dr. Mobley is offering this
new procedure for men requesting
vasectomy. It had been developed in China
many years before, and only recently had the technique
been taught to American urologists.
The article was read by Dan
Patrick, president of KSEV radio, and his wife
Jan, who had been encouraging Dan to have
a vasectomy. At the time, Dan
Patrick had a 3-hour sports show in the
mornings on KSEV.
Dan calls Dr. Mobley to schedule
a vasectomy.
A couple of days later Dan
calls to
talk to Dr. Mobley about doing his
vasectomy live on the morning sports show.
Dr. Mobley thinks this over for a couple of days
and says O.K. Dan felt that if he were to do his
morning sports show while simultaneously receiving
a
vasectomy it would show the public how easy this procedure
is, and
encourage more men to do the same.

Dan began to mention
on his show that his vasectomy was scheduled live on August 7. Public
interest began to increase daily.
