Our experienced Heart Center medical team provides a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services, including:
Observation Unit

| Medical Director Michael Nolen leads the Emergency Center team. |

Our Observation Unit provides specialized monitoring and lab testing. Patients who arrive at the Emergency Center with chest pain, but whose EKG and lab tests indicate they are not having a heart attack, are sent to the Observation Unit.
If an examination by a physician determines that the pain may be heart related, patients are admitted for more specialized lab studies and monitoring for up to 23 hours.
Non-Invasive Cardiology
We offer a comprehensive range of non-invasive pediatric and adult cardiology services focused on the detection and accurate diagnosis of heart disease, including electrocardiograms (EKG), echocardiograms, Holter monitoring, cardiac stress testing, nuclear stress testing and tilt table studies.
Cardiac Catheterization
Cardiac catheterization provides detailed information about the structure and function of the heart, and it is also a therapeutic tool that allows many patients to avoid open heart surgery.
Our Catheterization Lab provides cardiac and peripheral artery intervention, including ballooning and stenting and pacemaker implantation.
Cardiac Electrophysiology
The electrophysiologists at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands are skilled cardiologists with advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal heart rhythms.
They work with patients who have cardiac arrhythmia, including brachycardia, an abnormally slow or unsteady heart rhythm, and tachycardia, a sudden, rapid racing of the heart. Procedures performed include diagnostic electrophysiology studies, ablation of tachyarrhythmias, ICD implantations and cardiac resynchronization therapy for congestive heart failure.

Interventional Radiology
Interventional radiologists perform embolizations by injecting microscopic beads into hemorrhaging arteries. A catheter inserted through a tiny incision in the groin is navigated to the site of the hemorrhage, and an embolizing agent is injected through the catheter to close the artery.
We also offer long-term venous access catheter placements, peripheral vascular angiography and intervention, carotid angiography and vascular stent placement.
Cardiovascular Surgery

| Cardiovascular Intensive Care at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands. |
Clinical quality, advanced technology and a focus on patient safety ensure that our patients receive exceptional care before, during and after cardiovascular surgery.
Our cardiovascular services now include open-heart surgeries through a partnership with The University of Texas Medical School in the Texas Medical Center.
Memorial Hermann The Woodlands was one of the first hospitals in the southern and southwestern United States to provide patients with an innovative blend of technology and healthcare expertise called eICU®, which puts an additional layer of critical care expertise virtually at the bedside 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Cardiac Rehabilitation
Designed to help patients recover as quickly as possible from a cardiac event, our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program offers a comprehensive focus on exercise, education and lifestyle change.
A specialized team of physicians, nurses, exercise specialists, nutritionists and other healthcare professionals will teach you how to reduce your cardiac risk factors, improve your overall quality of life and gain the confidence you need to resume the activities of daily living.
Through an individualized telemetry-monitored exercise program, you will develop strength, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. Our program also includes nutritional counseling, stress-management consultations, smoking cessation, cardiac education and CPR training.
