Rev. Tim P. VanDuivendyk, D.Min.

Tim P. VanDuivendyk has been with Memorial Hermann Healthcare System
for more than 30 years and currently serves as an ACPE Certified Supervisor
and Assistant Vice President of Spiritual Care and Development. He
is an ordained Baptist minister.
After graduating from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, he received
his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Southwestern
Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He completed a pastoral
counseling residency at the Texas Research In Mental Health Science
Center (TRIMS) in the Texas Medical Center.
Tim is a Board-Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional
Chaplains and practices as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed
Marriage and Family Therapist in Texas.
He has served as the national accreditation chair of the ACPE, regional
certification chair of the College of Chaplains and the president of
the Southeast Texas Chaplains Association. He is married and has four
adult children.

Susan Nance began her professional journey toward chaplaincy in 1977
when two small community hospitals in a small town in Southern Illinois
recognized the need for pastoral care for staff, patients and families.
In 1982 Susan continued her training as a chaplain resident at Duke
University Medical Center in North Carolina and later became certified
as a Supervisor in Clinical Pastoral Education after completing her
training at Medical College of Virginia.
From 1988 until October 1999, Susan served as Associate Director of
Pastoral Care at Duke University Medical Center, where her special
areas of responsibility were general medicine and oncology. Susan was
also an adjunct lecturer at Duke Divinity School and an instructor
of pastoral care and counseling in the pastor's summer course of study
there.
Susan is an ordained Baptist minister, a graduate of The Southern
Baptist Theological Seminary and Duke Divinity School and is currently
serving the Southwest Region of the Association for Clinical Pastoral
Education as a member of the nominating and certification committees.
She is married.

Paul graduated
from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi, with a Bachelor
of Arts degree and from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary
in New Orleans with Master of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy degrees.
He was a professor
of theology at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary for 15 years
before entering Clinical Pastoral Education at The McFarland Institute
of Christian Health Ministries in New Orleans. Paul participated
in the ACPE Residency and Supervisory Training while at the Institute.
He held numerous
academic appointments at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary,
including Director of Research Doctoral Programs, Director of the
Doctor of Ministry Degree Program, and editor of The Theological
Educator. For three years Paul served on the Visiting Committee
of the McFarland Institute.
An ordained Baptist
minister and member of a number of professional organizations, Paul
has authored numerous publications and articles and is married with
two adult children.
The Rev. Cynthia (Cyd) Thomas, M.Div.

Cynthia “Cyd” Thomas
is a CPE Supervisor. Her responsibilities include the supervision
of CPE students in the residency and intern programs.
Cyd graduated from Rollins College in Florida in 1972 with a Bachelor
of Arts degree in philosophy and religion and received a Master of
Arts in 1974 in intercultural education from the University of the
Americas in Mexico.
She received her Master of Divinity degree from Regent College in
Vancouver, Canada, in 1993, and is an ordained Baptist minister. Cyd
completed her supervisory training in Houston at St. Luke's Hospital
and served as a chaplain there and at Texas Children's Hospital while
completing her educational requirements. She was certified as an Associate
Supervisor in 2001.
Prior to becoming a CPE Supervisor, Cyd helped establish and develop
Episcopal High School in Houston. She also worked in educational administration
and counseling at Rice University and with the University of Houston
honors program.
The
Reverend Kenneth Ramsey,
J.D./M. Div.
Ken is an ACPE Supervisory Candidate and serves as a chaplain and educator. He
has been involved in a number of creative ministries throughout his professional
career
Ken received dual
Doctor of Law and Master of Divinity degrees from Emory University
in 1993. After serving as a minister and lawyer for indigent peoples
in both the Appalachian region of Virginia and Texas, Ken began formal
training in CPE at St. Luke’s Hospital and Texas Children’s
Hospital here in Houston.
Ken has been a
part of the Memorial Hermann Chaplaincy Services department since
2002. He entered the supervisory certification process in 2003. Ken
frequently contributes to educational ministries in local congregations
and has served as an adjunct professor at the undergraduate level.
An ordained minister,
Ken is an active member of an ecumenical congregation here in Houston.
On occasion, he can be located on stage in various local theatrical
productions. He and his wife are the parents of three children.

For more than 25 years, Tom was the Director of the Chaplaincy Department.
After retiring, he has returned numerous times to offer part-time supervision
in our program. He is a graduate and holds two degrees from Baylor
University, a Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological
Seminary at Louisville, Kentucky, and a Master of Theology from Southwestern
Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas.
He has served as past president of the College of Chaplains and on
numerous national committees and commissions of the national ACPE organization.
Tom is married and has two adult sons.
