Felix Spiegel, MD, graduated from Columbia University in 1985, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Biochemistry and Psychology. He earned his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine in 1989. He proceeded to complete his General Surgery Residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in 1994. During his early career he served as Assistant Professor of Surgery at Albert Einstein School of Medicine training many residents. His practice consisted mostly of major cancer and laparoscopic surgeries.

He relocated to Texas in 2000 and his practice changed to mostly weight loss surgery. He has been mastering Bariatric surgery ever since and has successfully completed over 20,000 laparoscopic and open weight loss surgeries. He performs his surgeries exclusively at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center and Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, both recognized as fully accredited Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) Centers of Excellence by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

Dr. Spiegel is considered one of the more experienced weight loss surgeons in the world. He continues to advance his skills and develop new techniques.

  • Laparoscopic Gastric banding

  • Endoscopic weight loss surgery both new and revision
  • Multiple General Surgical procedures including hiatal hernia repair for reflux
  • Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
  • Incisional and abdominal Hernia repair

In addition to offering prescription-based medical weight management, Dr. Spiegel also provides Nutritional and Psychological support for his patients and has extensive experience in both. His goal is to provide lifetime weight control and health for his patients with the utmost safety and compassion.
