Dr. Jennifer Ukwu, MD

After graduating cum laude from the University of Houston with her bachelor’s degree, Jennifer Ukwu, MD, went on to complete her medical degree at UT Southwestern in Dallas and did her residency at the Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program in Houston. Dr. Ukwu was inspired to pursue a career in medicine after witnessing health disparities in her home county of Nigeria. She knew there was a great need for preventive medicine and educating people in how to manage their health.

Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Ukwu treats patients of all ages for acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, weight control, nutrition management and women’s health, including Pap tests. She also performs ear lavages, which is a safe method of removing excess wax in clinic. Her clinical interests include women’s health, holistic medicine and preventive care.

She is a member of the Houston County Medical Society, American Academy of Family Physicians and American Medical Association. Dr. Ukwu enjoys partnering with each of her
patients on their health journeys. Her favorite part of practicing medicine is helping her patients to enrich their lives beyond prescriptions and interventions, and having the opportunity to empower patients and their families with the knowledge they seek. Together, she and her patients are able to develop the best plans of care, based on clinical evidence to meet their individual health goals.

In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, exercising, traveling and volunteering.
