Physician Biography


Dr. Peter A. Walker earned his medical degree at Saint Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.  His general surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School was followed by an NIH-funded research fellowship and an advanced laparoscopic and robotics fellowship at UTHealth.

Board certified in general surgery, Dr. Walker’s clinical interests include advanced robotic surgery, weight loss surgery, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) surgery, hernia repair, biliary (gallbladder) surgery and general surgery. In practice since 2013, he treats patients 18 years and older.

Dr. Walker also serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery,and associate program director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship Program at UTHealth. He was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and is an Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He holds an editorial position on multiple medical journals and, as a resident, earned numerous awards for outstanding research.

Dr. Walker’s practice is dedicated to providing patients with state-of-the-art surgical therapies using the least invasive, most advanced and safest techniques available. His position on the UTHealth faculty allows him to stay current with the most recent medical research and surgical techniques available. He focuses on providing quality care during times of stress and making himself and his staff readily available to patients.

A resident of Katy, Dr. Walker is married and the father of two young daughters. Outside of his practice, he enjoys running, reading and college football.
