Dr. Maria Buitrago, DPM

Maria Buitrago, DPM, earned her Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, and went on to receive her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami. She then completed a three-year surgical residency at Kingwood Medical Center.

Board certified in foot and ankle surgery, Dr. Buitrago specializes in peripheral nerve decompressions for diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage) and tarsal tunnel decompression. In addition, she treats foot and ankle issues related to diabetes and sports medicine. Dr. Buitrago also offers minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery and surgery of the foot and ankle, including bunions and hammertoes.

She is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) and the Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons (AENS), and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS).

When Dr. Buitrago is not with her patients, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and daughter. In addition, she is an avid runner and enjoys participating in marathons. She serves as the Chief of Podiatry for the Houston Marathon, and volunteers at the San José Clinic and at a homeless shelter in downtown Houston.
