A $10 million donation from the Northeast Hospital Authority Board to the Memorial Hermann Foundation will jumpstart a project to enhance women’s services at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital.

The generosity of the Northeast Hospital Authority Board will help Memorial Hermann Northeast’s continued efforts to provide patients and families the best possible care, experience and outcomes,” said Memorial Hermann Foundation CEO and Executive Vice President Anne Neeson.
The project entails comprehensive renovation of the existing women’s services waiting room, operating rooms, and delivery rooms; relocation of the postpartum unit to the hospital’s South Tower; new technology and equipment for labor and delivery; and new office space for dedicated women’s services physicians.

Construction on the project will begin in April 2020 and will finish in spring of 2021.

Memorial Hermann Northeast has enjoyed a long history of support from the Northeast Hospital Authority Board, beginning with the founding of the hospital in 1977. Recent hospital improvements supported by the Northeast Hospital Authority Board include the expanded and fully renovated Ángel Muñoz, MD, MPH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a new chemotherapy infusion suite with upgraded patient, family and visitor amenities.
“The healthcare needs of the communities we serve are always the driving force behind expansion and enhancement projects,” Urban said. “Our primary goal is to improve the health and lives of the people who depend on us now and for years to come with quality, patient-centered services and infrastructure.”
Memorial Hermann Northeast, a 242-bed facility, has made several campus improvements and service additions since completing construction of the 90-bed West Tower in November 2018. In May, the hospital opened its bariatrics program and added an obstetrical emergency center to provide 24/7 specialized care to expecting mothers. Enhancements to existing catheterization and interventional radiology labs will be completed late spring 2020.
As part of efforts to continuously enhance each step of the patient journey, the hospital is currently renovating the West Entrance, operating rooms, and updating several patient service areas.
