Katy athletic training scholarshipsSix Katy Independent School District (KISD) athletic trainers were recently awarded Sports Medicine scholarships from Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital, the official healthcare provider for KISD.Each recipient was awarded a $500 sports medicine scholarship in recognition of the distinguished service the students provide to KISD athletic programs. This year’s recipients included: Makensie Barbee from Seven Lakes High School; Lyric Owens and Georgia Langford from Tompkins High School; Madison Cummings from Cinco Ranch High School; Lindsey Porter from Taylor High School; and Narda Guiterrez from Morton Ranch High School.

Barbee is heading to the University of Mississippi to study physical therapy. Owens will study athletic training at Louisiana State University. Both Cummings and Guiterrez plan to attend Texas A&M. Cummings wants to become a physician’s assistant and Narda will study biology and athletic training in hopes of one day going to medical school. Langford will attend Lone Star College and plans to attend law school afterward. Porter will attend Texas State University to study athletic training.
