THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (October 15, 2012)

The Pink Glove Dance is spreading… to Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center. More than 350 affiliated physicians, nurses, staff and current and former patients strapped on dancing shoes and starred in their own Pink Glove Dance video to help spread the word about breast cancer awareness and prevention.

"The idea for our participation in the Pink Glove Dance originated from Linda Jones, a breast cancer survivor and nurse here at the hospital," said Tami Herschmann, MSN, director of surgical services at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands. "She challenged us to create a video that not only highlighted breast cancer awareness, but also showed support of our colleagues currently facing the disease and celebrated our many breast cancer survivors - both patients and staff."

The video was produced for a national competition sponsored by Medline Industries, Inc., manufacturer of the pink gloves and producer of the original Pink Glove Dance video. Memorial Hermann The Woodlands' video is now posted on along with other submissions and can be viewed and voted on by the public.

The top three videos with the most votes receive a donation in their name to the breast cancer charity of their choice. Memorial Hermann The Woodlands designated Interfaith Community Clinic - an organization that assists in funding mammograms for underserved women - as its charity. The winners will be announced on November 2 on

"The support we received was amazing," said Steve Sanders, CEO of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands. "From Surgical Services' dancing da Vinci robot to the glowing dancers from the Breast and Bone Center, our folks incorporated their own personalities and visions into their portion of the final video. It was a blast to make and we hope it is well-received."The song used in the hospital's video is "Part of Me" by Katy Perry. An interesting side note is that the artist gave permission to use the song specifically for the Pink Glove Dance competition.
