Lori Knowles, senior vice president and chief human resources officer for Memorial Hermann Health System, has been named the 2023 American Business Awards® Bronze Stevie® Award winner in the Human Resources Executive of the Year category.
The American Business Awards is the nation’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S. are eligible to submit nominations.

According to one of the judges, Knowles is “leading change in health care from fixation on sickness to wellness. Her 25 years of experience allowed Memorial Hermann to shift and continue to support remote work, increase diversity by focusing on specific zip codes, negotiate an international nurse contract and expand hiring and succession planning for the organization.”

Knowles holds an undergraduate degree in psychology and a master’s degree in organizational management. She serves on human resources advisory boards for the University of Houston and Rice University and the Higher Education Committee of the Greater Houston Partnership. She is also the current president of the Houston Healthcare HR Association.
Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word meaning “crowned,” the awards will be presented to winners at a gala ceremony at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York on Tuesday, June 13.
