HOUSTON (November 16, 2022)

Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center has earned a straight ‘A’ safety grade from The Leapfrog Group, a Washington D.C-based organization aiming to improve health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The straight ‘A’ safety grade is awarded to organizations who have received a grade ‘A’, the top grade, for five consecutive award periods.

The program recognizes Memorial Hermann Memorial City’s strong commitment to patient safety by protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S. This is the 18th time the hospital has received an “A” safety grade.

“Patient safety is paramount at Memorial Hermann Memorial City, and being recognized for our commitment to providing high quality and safe, error-free care is a great acknowledgement of the hard work demonstrated every day by our physicians, nurses and employees across our system,” said Paul O’Sullivan, senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Memorial City. “It also confirms the trust families place in us to safely, and compassionately, care for their loved ones.”

The Hospital Safety Score is the gold standard rating for patient safety, compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading patient safety experts and administered by The Leapfrog Group, a national, independent nonprofit. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
