HOUSTON (May 19, 2015)

Ahead of National Cancer Survivors Day, Memorial Hermann, in collaboration with the American Cancer Society Gulf Coast Region and the Westin Houston Memorial City, will host its annual “A Survivor’s Celebration of Life” event honoring cancer survivors and their caregivers on Friday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Westin Houston Memorial City.

Hosted by Sunny 99.1’s Dana Tyson, the 2015 event’s theme is “Make it a Happy Day…Plant Seeds and Grow Hope” and will feature a keynote by motivational speaker and humorist Sally Baskey, author of “Laughter, My Drug of Choice.” In addition, there will be a wellness-oriented resource fair, light buffet lunch, a photo booth, music and dancing.

“This is an important day as we honor survivors and the caregivers who have been their support system,” said Amy S. Deutsch, DNP, APRN, CNS, AOCNS, advanced practice registered nurse with Memorial Hermann “We are excited to have Sally Baskey this year to talk about dealing with life by finding humor in stressful situations.”

The event is free and open to all cancer survivors and their caregiver of choice. Self-parking is also free, courtesy of the Westin Memorial City. Attendance is limited. RSVP by May 26 to 713-222-CARE (2273).
