HUMBLE, TEXAS (May 05, 2015)

Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital has been recognized as a 2014 Texas Top 10 Value Hospital by Verras Healthcare International. Every hospital in Texas with more than 250 beds was considered in the ranking, according to Verras.

“Being recognized as a Texas Top 10 Value Hospital speaks to the fact that the people of the Lake Houston area need to look no further than their own community for an excellent healthcare provider,” said Heath Rushing, Sr. Vice President and CEO at Memorial Hermann Northeast. “I am very proud of the dedicated staff and affiliated physicians at Memorial Hermann Northeast who have helped earn this commendation. We are encouraged by this recognition and will continue to provide excellent service to our patients and to advance health in this community.”

Memorial Hermann Northeast will be presented the award at the American Hospital Association Signature Learning Series symposium on June 4 at Elmhurst College in suburban Chicago, Ill.

“Value in healthcare is a measure of service, quality and price. All of our affiliated physicians and employees are committed to providing cost-effective clinical excellence with an exceptional patient care experience,” said Keith Alexander, President, North Region at Memorial Hermann. “The residents of the Lake Houston area have come to appreciate the pride, effort and dedication to patient service exemplified at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital.”

Verras used the Medical Value Index™ (MVI) to determine the Top Value Hospitals. MVI is a patented algorithm that processes data provided by hospitals based on six widely recognized healthcare metrics of quality and cost efficiency: national quality measures, readmission rates, mortality, morbidity, reduction in variation and resource consumption.

The Best Value Hospital award was created by Verras to bring public recognition to hospitals delivering best value to their patients; to empower consumers to identify hospitals that deliver better outcomes at lower cost, and to provide payers data to help them lower the cost of healthcare for their companies.

Memorial Hermann Northeast has been an anchor of care for families in the Lake Houston area for 37 years and serves as a direct conduit to the innovative and advanced care available at the Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. The campus holds several accreditations and distinctions, including the Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award, designation as a American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Gold-Plus Stroke Facility and Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council Primary Stroke Center, Quality Respirator Care Hospital certification by the American Association for Respiratory Care and is recognized as a Texas Ten Step Facility by the Texas Hospital Association for improving breastfeeding health outcomes.

Located just east of George Bush Intercontinental Airport off Highway 59, the campus is home to the longest-accredited cancer center in Houston outside of the Texas Medical Center and was recognized by the Joint Commission as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures. Memorial Hermann Northeast’s broad representation of service lines includes interventional cardiology, oncology, spine surgery, orthopedics and sports medicine, and neurosurgery.

The hospital has also partnered with UT Physicians in oncology, orthopedics and cardiology to bring distinguished expertise to the campus. Memorial Hermann Northeast provides top-of-the-line imaging technology at its Imaging Center, has two state-of-the-art catheterization labs, and the latest in robotic surgery in its operating rooms. In February, the hospital opened its innovative endovascular hybrid suite, designed specifically for vascular and cardiovascular patients.
