Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital has been named a 2010 Top Improver Award Winner by Press Ganey Associates, Inc.
CEO Louis Smith accepted the award on behalf of the hospital's physicians, employees and volunteers.
"We have adopted a "We Are Service Excellence" philosophy that assists us in keeping our patients in the forefront of everything we do and it is gratifying to see that our efforts have resulted in these types of Press Ganey scores," Smith said.
Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital is one of just 29 Press Ganey client facilities to receive this honor in 2010.
The Top Improver Award recognizes Press Ganey clients who have shown continuous improvement in their patient, physician or employee satisfaction scores - comparing quarterly scores over two years, with improved scores in three of the four eligible periods.
Press Ganey currently partners with more than 10,000 health care facilities - including 50 percent of U.S. hospitals - to measure and improve the quality of their care and their bottom line. The company's databases are the largest in the industry and allow facilities like Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital to benchmark their results against equivalent hospitals.
The Top Improver Award is one of several quality awards and certifications that Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital has earned. The hospital received the Memorial Hermann Presidents' Award for Breakthrough of the Year for quality and safety that exceeds more than 90 percent of hospitals nationwide.
As a member of the Memorial Hermann Health System, the hospital also earned the National Quality Healthcare Award from the National Quality Forum. In addition to its quality awards, Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital's Cancer Center is the longest-accredited cancer center outside the Texas Medical Center. The hospital is recognized as an accredited Chest Pain Center by The Society of Chest Pain Centers and is a member of the Memorial Hermann City-wide Stroke Network.
"This recognition of our quality of care reflects the strength that Memorial Hermann brings to the Humble/Kingwood/Atascocita area," Smith said. "We are in control of where we are going in our journey of excellence, and winning the Press Ganey Top Improver award compels us to work harder. By keeping our patients in the forefront of what we do, we will succeed."
